Lamborghini launches super sports car Huracán in India


Super sports car manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini on Monday (22/9/2014) launched its brand new offering in the Indian market-- Huracán, priced at Rs. 3.43 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
According to the company, the new sports car is the successor to the iconic Gallardo, which sold 14,022 units and became the most successful Lamborghini model ever made.

"Since its global launch at the Geneva Motor Show, the customer response has been very positive; they are delighted with the new design philosophy. Deliveries of these units are scheduled to begin in October 2014," said Pavan Shetty, head - operations, Lamborghini India.

The Huracán is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine with 610 hp and reaches a top speed of over 325 km an hour with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz to launch the GLA-Class on 30 September

Mercedes-Benz will launch the eagerly awaited luxury crossover, the GLA-Class, on September 30.Based on the company’s new Modular Front Architecture (MFA) platform, the GLA is a new product like the recently launched CLA 45 AMG.

The GLA is expected to be offered with a choice of two engines –

  1. 1.6-litre petrol with an output of 156bhp and 250Nm of torque
  2. 2.1-litre diesel engine will produces 135bhp and 300Nm of torque. 
  3. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with paddle shifters will be mated to both these engines. 

The GLA internationally comes equipped with:

  1. 18-inch alloy wheels
  2. Automatic bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights
  3. Auto-on wipers
  4. Front and rear parking sensors with active parking assist. 
  5. Nine airbags
  6. Satnav
  7. Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming
  8. Dual-zone climate control
  9. Reversing camera
  10. Six-speaker audio system.

 Expect these features to be carried forward tothe Indian model as well.

The GLA is a niche product and it will set a new benchmark for entry-level crossovers in India. Although we aren’t sure of its pricing, we expect it to start from Rs 30 lakh and go upto Rs 40 lakh depending on engine option and variants. It competes with the likes of the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. The German carmaker will also launch a hot AMG variant of the crossover, the GLA45 AMG in 2015.

New Audi A3 sedan – Specs and variants revealed


The A3 sedan is elegantly styled, yet in typically Audi manner, carries a discreet road presence. Inside, the cabin features a clutter free new design theme for the dashboard and loads of standard equipment. Audi has confirmed that the A3 in India will be offered with two engine options

  1. 35TDI.
  2. 40TFSI 

The A3 35TDI will be powered by a

  1. 2.0-litre, four cylinder diesel engine producing 143bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
  2. Paired with Audi’s S-tronic 7-speed gearbox.
  3. A3 35TDI is claimed to hit 100kmph from standstill in 8.6 seconds.
  4.  ARAI certified fuel economy of 20.38kmpl
The A3 40TFSI will feature

  1. 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 180bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. 
  2. Paired with Audi’s S-tronic 7-speed gearbox.
  3. A3  40TFSI is claimed to hit 100kmph from standstill in 7.3 seconds.
  4. A3 claims 16.6kmpl.
Standard features on the upcoming A3 include Audi’s MMI infotainment system with 7-inch display, dual zone climate control, park assist with rear view camera, Milano leather upholstery, xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats and some more.

With the A3 sedan, Audi India is looking to capture a new generation of buyers who are on the lookout for a compact, high quality sedan. The brand hopes that its most affordable sedan for the Indian market will give it an edge over the competition.

BMW rolls out the locally assembled 2014 X5 from its Chennai plant


BMW India has rolled out the locally assembled X5 from Chennai. This is the third generation of the SUV that was launched on May 29 in the presence of legendary cricketer and brand Ambassador for BMW, Sachin Tendulkar.

This new BMW X5 gets changes to both exteriors and interiors. The car gets a tall upright stance adding to its sporty character and the fascia shows the traditional BMW kidney grille which is broader than the outgoing model. The vehicle features new headlamps with LED inserts and revised two piece tail lights.

The overall dimensions of the car have changed than its predecessor, making it


  1. 1938mm wide(5mm wider)
  2. 4,886mm long (32mm longer) 
  3. 1762mm high (14mm taller). 
  4. Wheelbase is 2933mm.
  5. Boot space of 650 litres.


Inside, the automaker has given a wooden treatment around the dash, door pads and the gear lever. The instrument panel gets four round gauges and the cabin features a freestanding 10.5-inch iDrive control display monitor. The other standard features include self-leveling rear suspension, electronic damper control, four-zone climate control and cruise control with braking function, etc. Another highlight in this X5 model is that it gets lane departure warning, road sign information, head-up display, night vision with human and animal detection, 360 degree surround view parking assistance and collision warning.

The new generation BMW X5 is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine producing 258bhp of power and 560Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and the power is sent to all the wheels. The car does the 0 to 100kmph run in just 6.9seconds and reaches a top speed of 230kmph.

The car was first unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and was launched at price of Rs 70.90 lakh last month. The deliveries for the BMW X5 will begin by the end of this month. The waiting period for the car may extend to three months, and to meet the growing demand the manufacturer might step up the production.
